Play therapy is available for children. Play therapy is to children what counseling is to adults. Play is the child’s natural way of communicating and in the playroom, toys are used like words and play is the child’s language. Children enter in a safe environment that is very specifically designed with therapeutic toys that help children communicate or play out what they are feeling. Positive feelings accompany play, so when children communicate or play out how they feel, healing takes place, as children learn to feel more positive about life, and their ability to navigate life’s difficult challenges.
As adolescents make the transition from childhood into adulthood, they are faced with many challenges in our modern technologically advanced world. Social relationships are crucial, extremely complicated and challenging at this stage of life. Relationship difficulties can lead to anger, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, withdrawal, sex and substance abuse. Adolescents need a neutral person who can understand the dynamics of their world that helps them become empowered, build confidence, increase maturity and improve decision-making skills.
Christian Counseling is available to those who desire a deeper spiritual relationship and to help overcome life’s challenges
Emotional and behavioral issues displayed by any family member can impact the entire family. Family counseling is available to help the family work through issues, improve communication, and resolve conflict by empowering all family members to participate and solve presenting issues.
As a mother of a child with special needs I personally understand the dynamics of what it is like to parent a child with special needs, including how having a child with special needs impacts the entire family system. Parenting a normal child can be challenging, but the stress associated with raising a child with special needs makes parenting even more challenging. Using a family systems approach I provide practical solutions to everyday problems for both the parents and the child.
Sometimes it is important to review where you are in your life, how you arrived in this place, and whether or not it feels right for you. Whatever the reason, sometimes adults need to work with a therapist to accomplish clearly established goals, make sense of feelings or experiences, and then move on to what’s next in life, feeling happier, healthier and more whole.
